Lunchbox
Interactive design, illustration
This is a dynamic 'tap essay' that forms a response to the supplied audio of Uncle Greg Simms (Gadigal, Dharug, Gundugurra Elder) as provided by Indigenous academic Danièle Hromek (Budawang, Yuin).
I decided to create a design that illustrates the experiences of many Australians when they swapped food at school. The user clicks on each food as they are presented, to swap them and further the narrative.
The visual story follows Uncle Greg's story and demonstrates its themes of community, diversity, and sharing. I created digital collages in a naive style to evoke childhood. The typeface, colour palette and background noise of children playing, all aid in creating feelings of nostalgia.
