This project rendering was created for a Designer who was presenting the idea for a box garden to showcase her landscape services in Santa Monica on the 3rd street Garden day. The concept was a Fairy garden where the participant could enter and feel protected but nourished though looking at the variety of plants. Niche ideas included lighting for night, a book turned into a container for a pot, a mug with a small garden in it, wood stumps from another project, air ferns and terrariums to hang from the pergola structure, and a waving sea of grass encased the edges to feel as if one was sitting in rolling hills.

 

The rendering was revised a few times and included here is the base model and a version for the day (which was scrapped) and a version for twilight to give a sense of mystery (which was presented). It was interesting working with this client because they wanted certain aspects to stand out unnaturally...like the glass bulbs and wind chimes.

 

The project was awarded a spot on the Promenade and the included pictures show it as built May 2013. It turned out the project was a bit underfunded so it was not as well rounded as the renderings.
