CIP Project Status Application Overview
Pima County’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Project Status Application is an automated system that provides easy access to the real-time status of all active CIP projects. Dashboards and indicators combined with narratives make determination of a CIP project’s real-time status simple. The User Guide presents benefits of and directions for working with the CIP Project Status Application. The User Guide also includes goals, objectives, definitions and principles driving the design of the application.
The IT Development team's goals were driven by user behavior and user psychology. The main goal of the application included alerting project managers and upper management of key indicators that alerted when a project was falling behind. The creative solution would do this in a constructive manner, sparking a conversation between project managers and upper management to get the project back on track. The notification system is expected to catch issues as they become available so that quick decisions can be made to avoid loss of time and money.

The applications colors, alert types, and information presentation all strive to provide information to make data-driven decisions without the stigma associated with projects falling behind. Each project manager can identify the alert types and compare with their project plan to make adjustments and inform their upper management of any issues and potential pitfalls.

In addition, we leveraged Adobe XD to represent our provisional user personas. These personas identified the user types, their needs and website/application requirements. These were give to our development team, which made it easy to ensure consistent styling and branding at all stages of the agile development process, while keeping user type requirements in mind.
