The case was to create poster for Contemporary Ukrainian Animation screening (by Linoleum Animation Festival) in the USA.
The task was to use some authentic Ukrainian visual material but get rid of any stereotypical look, make it fun, interesting and, yeah, contemporary, up-to-date.
After considering very different types of such visuals, I decided to use a toy horse as key visual. It is well-known and deeply rooted thing in our culture and many other cultures as well, so it would be really easy for a foreigner to identify.
Next step is to transform it into a playful, colorful and fun identity
To emphasize the poster's idea, some letters of Ukrainian alphabet were included in title.
And a playful, energetic and lively event identity came to live.
For merchandise, a vector version of illustration was created.
So it could look really nicely on tote bags, tees etc. Although these were never produced, still it is a nice concept.
Glad you watched!
Thanks!
