Client: Personal Schoolwork
In my Advanced Studio Techniques class at SCAD, we were instructed to create Blu-Ray DVD Covers for a movie or show of our choice. I chose to go with Yellow Submarine, the animated film of The Beatles. I thought it would be a really fun project to do, and it was!
Here are the initial thumbnails for the project. My professor and I went through them and he liked two of them so much he couldn’t decide—and so I ended up making two designs.
The polished sketches: the first concept was inspired by Jaws, and the second incorporated some of the other weird characters in the film.
*Note: these company logos and awards are not accurate to the actual film's credits and accolades, and used here mainly for aesthetic and educational purposes. I do not own any rights to these intellectual properties, including text, logos, and the characters.
Here are the final DVD covers rendered. We also used some distressed textures and stickers to mockup on the DVD covers to give them a more worn in, authentic feel to them.
We also had to design DVD labels for the project, as seen below.
Here are the actual mockups of the DVD covers and the CD labels!
Thanks for stopping by! :)
