Penguin Book Cover - Wind in the Willows

The brief was to re-imagine the design of the cover of the famous novel Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. The perspective of the design was chosen because I thought it immediately made the design unique as all the previous covers were a painted scene of the book. The concept behind the design is based around the characters friendship. Each character is holding hands. Mr Toad has his held by both Mr Mole and Mr Badger because he gets in trouble the most. Mole has his held by Ratty as Ratty was his first friend and looked after him. The badger is holding Rattys also as he is the oldest and wisest and looks after them all. The back cover is shows them from back to back showing that they always have each others support no matter what. All the characters were created in layers of card to look 3D.
