Introduction

This project required the conceptualization and execution of a social media marketing strategy to promote a One Source Festival held in the capital of a Pan-African country. The social marketing strategy needed to pay specific attention to social media goals an audit, customer demographics, and a return of investment. Furthermore, a minimum of 3 social media adverts needed to be developed for Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat and Twitter.

Campaign Overview

Our chosen country was Mozambique, and in light of the recent tropical cyclone Idai, our campaign aims to raise funds to help restore the damage caused by the tropical cyclone. In addition, we want to encourage fans of the artists at the event to express themselves through their own creations while also supporting the event which will support the victims of the areas affected by the tropical cyclone.

Social Media Marketing Strategy

Our campaign, Absolut Criação, involves each of the main artists at the festival running their own separate campaigns which take the form of online challenges that relate to the artists' passions. The challenges have certain specifications so that a consistent style is maintained. At the conclusion of each challenge, one winner from each challenge is selected and they are rewarded with an all-expenses paid VIP experience at the One Source Event in 2019, and a unique experience with the relevant artists. The top user submissions are displayed at the event in order to create a more personalized experience for the people who attend. All proceeds from the event are donated to help aid cyclone relief programs. Finally, limited edition bottles will also be available for people to buy, and the profits generated by these bottles will be donated to cyclone relief programs.
