Sustainable Design: East Falls Elementary School

This is a project from my Master of Science in Sustainable Design. This is the first project I designed in my Sustainable Design studio, and the first project I had designed as an entire architectural form. For this project, the task was to design an elementary school in East Falls, Philadelphia. The site is adjacent to Schuylkill River. The goal of the project was to design a school within the perspectives of the Four Quadrants: performance, systems, culture and experience. We used these perspectives to create a design process. In this project, we used the software Sefaira, for energy modeling, day-lighting and solar shading simulations. In the final iteration of the design, there was an EUI countdown and water savings calculations.

This is an example of one of the processes of site analysis through four perspectives: performance, systems, culture and experience.

Final Daylight Simulation
These are the final inputs for the energy modeling.
These are the final numbers for water savings after calculations.
