June 2019 Photoshop Creative Challenge
Day 1 Before - The dinosaur was too modern for this modern age. The goal was to try to get a "vintage" look.
Day 1 After - I got most of the effect using the filter gallery's Smudge Stick with these settings: Stroke Length 0; Highlight Area 17; Intensity 5. I then added the Overlay blending mode. Selecting the feet was kind of hard because the grass was grown around them. I think in hindsight I might have tried using the patch tool to complete the feet before trying to select them.
Day 2 Before - A nice line art waiting for some depth.
Day 2 After - Many layers later, but a good introduction to shading and blending.
Day 3 - The task was to create a vintage movie poster by consolidating images. This one uses three images, a couple of text layers, a color layer and a background layer.
Day 4 - This challenge was to create a modern Sci-Fi movie poster. I consolidated three images, used gradients to create the doomed aura, and added the stroke and text to finish it off. It was a lot harder than it sounds, simply because of my own limitations. But, I learned a lot.
Challenge Number 5 - The goal was to make a 'noisy' portrait. I went easy on the noisy because I wanted something that was recognizable. It was a good experiment using the filters.
Challenge Number 6 - Here, we had to make some strange text. I learned a lot about using layer styles and blending as well as working with tightly knit layers.
Challenge 7 - This was a good exposure to the details you can achieve using the Blending options. I went for the Sun Glow style to fill in the center of the letters which seemed to work good with the background. Good practice, all in all.
Challenge 8 - Learning all the nuances to bevels and outlines on text.
Challenge 9 - This was to create a super hero poster/teaser similar to a John Wick promo.
