Government Shared Services – Future Shared Services Rich Picture

We were tasked with creating a rich picture to explain the future of shared services in government, and highlight the benefits of the changes. The benefits include efficiency, saving money, automation, user support and on-the-go working.

We held an initial brainstorming session with the client, using the CATWOE principle to target key information. With this, we translated their vision into a layout consisting of multiple factors, people and technology.

The graphical style combines a mix of modern environments – urban, commuter and home settings – to help the user see what the new world of shared services can offer them. The intricate detail means users can discover what their work processes will look like in future, and see how tech, communication and interaction will interact.

The client said:
"The shared service rich picture was used intensively across all GSS visual communications channels, both on- and off-line. It created an identity that could be instantly recognisable that was aligned with and reinforced GSS's key messages.

As stakeholders and strategic partners became familiar with the rich picture, GSS started to deconstruct it and use individual elements to focus on and reinforce specific messages. This approach was highly effective and enabled GSS to target, specific messages to subsets of our primary audience.

The rich picture was also made available to other government departments to support their shared services communications. The GSS communications team worked with government professions to develop complementary communications in support of strategies that were aligned to the Shared Services Strategy for Government."
