Children Book Illustration

A children's book idea that started from illustrating a couple characters: a hummingbird wearing shoes and distracted while texting and a mouse with wings that loves magic. I asked myself what and to who a bird could be texting and the beginning of a story emerged...

Hugo's goal is to fly, but the way he goes about it is by studying, and he's never really ready for the leap. He's always thinking and planning ahead, and very focused on his goal, missing everything else.

Martine on the other hand, tends to be spontaneous, playful, intuitive, and she loves to play with magic and sometimes do tricks on others. Her problem is not many people believe in her, and she longs to be seen and acknowledged.
Because Martine is only active at night, people are usually asleep when she's around. Her tricks are really a way to get attention but it gets her in trouble. I imagined the house Hugo would live in, and how the two characters might interact. Here she's shown messing with Hugo, to try to wake him up, but he's a really hard sleeper! Hugo sleeps in such a way that he's not initially aware that she even exists. Until one day...
