Motu is a retail space with an ethical mind, a collection of unique goods from across the globe reflecting our organic ethos. We are inspired by nature and we protect her. Colours
Our colour palette is drawn from a slightly aged/vintage vision of tropical paradise. Not as vibrant, but softer, more gentle shades, all found in the natural beauty of the island.
The icon
This icon has been created to reflect the unique brand combination of lifestyle and surf culture. The style of the icon alludes to a vintage/classic surf visual, while the geometric nature and capacity for variation allow for it to sit comfortably within a more modern and sustainable aesthetic. The icon is contained with a curved shape that is an abstract representation of a little reef island as well as space/home – we have the gentle waves hitting the sandy shore. We see the mountains and the hint of rainforest touching the shore. The circle is the rising or setting sun – it offers warmth, light, growth.
The creative visual
ORGANIC– Just like MOTU, this creative is inspired by nature. It is the ripples and reflections that glisten off water, the gentle flow of the seasons, dancing with the breeze, stopping – pausing – to listen to the sounds. We are grounded, centered. Our feet firmly on the ground. Abstract and flowing visuals were created using Indian Ink watered down and painted on textured paper. When used in abstract (zoomed in) we have multiple variations to play with. We can colour the paintings or we can use them with their original black. We employ this creative device as a complimentary visual that can be used as a subtle addition to the MOTU brand suite.
