Kyphoplasty: Guide to Needle Placement
We worked with neurosurgeon Andrew Ringer, MD to produce training materials on percutaneous approaches for kypoplasty & vertebroplasty. Deliverables included PowerPoint lecture for courses, video demonstrations, operating room posters, and a technique paper published in World Neurosurgery.
Key teaching concept: The procedure relies on fluoroscopic guidance in the AP and lateral planes. Surgeons new to this technique must "visualize in their mind" the axial view and appreciate the three dimensional projection of the needle at key anatomical landmarks to ensure safe trajectory.
