Mostra Sonora i Visual is a sound art and music showcase celebrated every two years at Convent de Sant Agustí, Barcelona.
This cultural center is focused in the promotion and cultural outreach of sound art. Promoting young local and international artists but also exposing its historic background.
For this edition the concept inspiration came from the sound mirrors developed in Britain in the 1920s and 30s to pick up sound from great distances. Before the invention of radar, parabolic sound mirrors were used experimentally as early-warning devices by military air defense forces to detect incoming aircrafts by listening for the sound of their engines. Some of these monumental aerials are still standing and remain as part of the history of sound engineering development.
Designed in collaboration with Pedro Gonçalves (design and motion graphics).
