Melinda Döme's profile

MELANOME | Social Campaign

In Hungary, about 2,800 patients with melanoma are diagnosed each year according to the National Cancer Registry, which NUMBER has doubled in the last 15 years. Melanoma is not selective: at any age, it can develop in both sexes. The greatest risk factor is exposure to UV radiation, but many and irregular material marks as well as inherited tendency may increase the risk of PROGRESSION TO MELANOME.

Melanoma is one of the worst type of cancer among skin tumors, and it easily forms tumor metastasis in other organs. The risk of serious consequences of the disease can be reduced by careful attention, screening and early diagnosis. Melanoma, which is detected at an early stage, is only present in the upper layer of the skin, and the patient is likely to be cured by surgical removal of the tumor.

The purpose of the campaign is to draw people's attention to the importance of self-examination, screening test and appropriate light protection.
