19 February marks the 150th birthday anniversary of renowned Armenian writer Hovhannes Tumanyan.

Tumanyan wrote poems, quatrains, ballads, novels, fables, critical and journalistic articles. His work is simple, natural and poetically inspired at the same time. Tumanyan's works have become a natural part of people's everyday language, their sayings and adages.

Many films and animated films have been adapted from Tumanyan's works. Two operas—Anush (1912) by Armen Tigranian and Almast (1930) by Alexander Spendiaryan—were written based on his works.

Happy Independence day of First Republic of Armenia.

On May 28 Armenia celebrates the day of the first Republic.
On May 21-28, 1918 in the battles that took place near Gharakilisa, Bash-Aparan and Sardarapat the Armenian forces managed to stop, then in Bash-Aparan and Sardarapat to give final blow to the Turkish regular army.
On those very days on May 26 the Seim of Transcaucasia declared about its dissolution. On May 28, 1918 Armenian National Council declared about Armenia’s independence.

We survived, we remember and demand.

The Armenian genocide was the ruthless slaughter of millions of Armenians by the Turks
of the Ottoman Empire.
In 1915, during World War I, leaders of the Turkish government set in motion a plan to expel and massacre Armenians. Conservative estimates have calculated that some 600,000 to more than 1,000,000 Armenians were slaughtered or died on the marches. The events of 1915–16 were witnessed by a number of foreign journalists, missionaries, diplomats, and military officers who sent reports home about death marches and killing fields.

The governments of Turkey and its close ally The Republic of Azerbaijan are the only ones that directly deny the historical factuality of the Armenian Genocide, and both are adamantly opposed to the recognition of the genocide by other nations, threatening economic and diplomatic consequences to recognizers.
As of 2019, governments and parliaments of 30 countries, including Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Russia, as well as 49 states out of 50 of the United States, have recognized the events as a genocide.
