Estranged Bodies, Domestic Narratives

By: SZE To Ka Ming Janet | Tutor: Daniel Elkin
With this drawing and modelling exercise, students transition full-scale, self-centric body narrative inquiry to propose spaces that transition between our bodies and normative narratives of domesticity. Students use a two-direction process of inquiry to understand the strange bodies of a partner’s Body Extension in relationship to more familiar narratives – Domestic Narratives that will position our work closer to the centre of interior design practice.

Key concepts to deliver: spatial planning, typological study, circulation, egress, scale, served and servant spaces, threshold, human behavior narratives and spatial relationships.
