Lantern Festival is one of Wellington Night Market's most popular annual event. Over the past three years, we have transformed Lower Cuba Street into a wonderland lined with lanterns.
In February 2018, with the support of Wellington City Council and accommodation partner Wellington Management Group, WNM again threw open its doors and welcomed more than 40,000 Wellingtonians and tourists to the WNM Lantern Festival. Hundreds of handmade lanterns displayed on the street, including 6 lifesized lanterns!

"Mid-Summer Night" Lantern Parade is the highlight of the event night. It is an activity which has never been seen before in Wellington.
The procession involved more than 200 people, including local families who have made their own lanterns at our lantern making workshops, giant lanterns made by local artists, and dancers to showcase the artistic and creative of Wellington.
