Game of Thrones costume design: Robert (fanmade)

Game of Thrones - Young Robert Baratheon costume design
Just because this is fan made doesn't mean I designed this will less passion than I would have if I did a legitimate one.

*disclaimer: I do not claim ownership over the depicted character. I do not claim to be affiliated with the show Game of Thrones in any way whatsoever.*
Used some elements from the show, to establish that same world feel.
We got a short glimpse of the Stormlands from season 2, and there was a thematic shape of the armor among Renly and his soldiers, so I took that. I made gave it a little embellishment but less than that of Renly's, since I don't think the Stormlanders cared all that much about decoration.

In the show, we got a glimpse of King Robert's jousting armor, but I wanted to make a Rebellion-age one before he was King. I look at Robert as a character, and I don't think he'd be the type to wear a full set of armor when it came to war.
We also got a glimpse of his helmet, which I think had a rather ingenius translation of the antlers in putting the actual top of a stag skull that included the antlers. Here though, I tried only putting part of the antlers just to be a tad more practical.
I don't think the Stormlands were a particularly cold place, and judging from the short glimpse we had of it, i saw that cloaks weren't a thing there, so I gave him a coat instead. I of course love the Stark cloaks that made them look huge and I wanted to give him that too, and one thing we know from Robert is that he loves hunting. So I topped his coat with this thick, wiry fur of a some bear or bison, or some great beast he'd killed. Like a trophy of sorts, much like his antlers.
I loved the contrast of the Starks' armor to leather, and I think since Robert and Ned were best mates, and since I don't think of Robert to be the full armor-wearing kind, I adapted that style onto him.
One thing we know from both Robert and Stannis about the Baratheons is that they're strong and stubborn, so I put some strong square shapes onto the leather tunic.
We never really saw Ned wear armor, but Robb had this "informal" look he wore in war councils where he wasn't wearing his armor, and I gave one to Robert too.
Whenever I picture Robert, I see him in this fresh sort of a rock star look with open coats. I think that he's someone who wouldn't care about formalities and wouldn't bother to strap up his tunics properly.
I actually started sketching ideas for a young Robert way back in 2013 and I had a specific one for the hammer, knowing that real warhammers actually had smaller heads than those depicted in fantasy drawings and games. But we saw Gendry with his own hammer in season 6, and I adapted took from that silhouette but added a few more corners to it and even added the matching embellishment from the armor.
I also experimented with dual-toned armors, and I particularly think the black-and-gold one would look great, but I thought the plainer ones made a cleaner contrast with the leather. I might do a full version of that for his ceremonial armor or something. Also tested the full antlers.
