Visual representation of an interview with John Cage

This piece is based on American composer John Cage, born in 1912. It was a collaborative approach to the subject, working alongside a musician who produced sheet music for the rhythm of the voice during the interview - treating his answers as separate small compositions.

The score was created focusing on rhythmic qualities, tone and timing of the voice. I then translated the plotted rhythm into the words spoken, using a typographic approach below the compositions. The typography used was to reflect John Cage's animated facial expressions and humorous answers.
