Interactive Digital Magazine

An interactive digital mag
For a footwear startup company named khepry
A mockup of the final prototype interface.
The software chosen for the design of the high fidelity prototype was Framer x. Despite never having worked with this software, it was chosen because it allowed a high level of fidelity between the various screens and its learning proved to be relatively accessible.
It was important that the colors were clear and neutral creating an elegant, pleasant and simple environment, helping to make the articles stand out.
To create a visual contrast between the technical elements — like titles, subtitles or descriptions — and the reading texts — as in the case of the articles and highlights of the homepage — two fonts were used.
For the first type of situations San Francisco (SF) was chosen and for the second type, DSType Leitura News was selected.
Leitura was created for editorial purposes and, although it was not specially designed for the screen, in high DPI retina screens, it is comfortable to read as that was confirmed during the usability tests.
Detail of the contrast between the two fonts
During the usability testing it was suggested to create a night mode. And as this application is linked to reading it is an appropriate idea to let some adjustment options for the reader such as the background color in order to make the system as comfortable as possible.

In the future it will be important to explore the magazine individual issues’ editorial structure. And to think about the graphic form of the editorial structure that may vary from the already defined design of the articles, without, however, changing it too much. Respecting consistency, but at the same time providing a surprising factor that may be important to maintain the user interest.
This is the culmination of my research work and final masters degree project
in Graphic Design and Editorial Projects in
Fine Artes Faculty of University of Oporto.
This project have the guidance of my teacher advisor Pedro Amado.
The brand used in this project was created by Miguel Morais.
Let me now what do you think.
