Islamophobia and prejudices against Islam are rising in “western” societies. At the same time a lot of people are coming together for a new kind of religion: The consumption of technical products.

This compass is a high-tech device for Muslims and shows the direction of Mecca, where many followers of Islam pray to. It opens the possibility for impartial and unbiased dialog with strangers who are interested in technical products. To reach this aim the representation of the Compass Mekka is designed in a very abstract way to attract attention.

It also gives Muslims the opportunity to show their faith in an alternative and elegant way.

To understand religions in general, I conducted interviews with a Catholic Priest and a modern-day Muslim who lives in Germany.
