Virgin Adventures - Travel Company Branding

This was one of the D&AD New Blood Briefs of 2019. The brief stated that Virgin Atlantic wanted to create a new sub-brand that was all about adventure and to make it easy for people to book one with both the flight and hotel included.

The art style I decided to go with uses bright, and vibrant colours and has a feel of paper-craft. I decided to go with the paper-craft look to try and appeal to millennials who love digital things but are also trying more to connect to material things and to get out and experience what the real world has to offer.

I also decided to go with it as it resembles topography maps. Using the topography idea, I created posters around the top down views of various locations Virgin Atlantic flies to.
For my final logo I kept it incredibly simple and decided to go with the arrow facing right to suggest moving forward or pointing to your next adventure.
The home page of the website has two options, the usual search, and one that makes it quick and easy for customers to book an adventure. When people use the adventure search, they can decide what sort of holiday they want by picking an overall mood. Once picked, they are greeted with a couple suggestions. Each suggestion states a destination, accommodation, and a suggested activity. If a customer is happy with one of the suggestions, they can book it there and then, but if not they are able to alter the options.
When experimenting with my logos I tried to keep them simple so they would fit in with existing Virgin logos. I tried to create imagery that links to travel or maps such as the circle for a globe or a pin like on digital maps.
For the posters, I experimented with a few different ways to use the 3D topography style The poster with the 3 ovals was meant to represent looking out of a plane window, where as the portrait one was meant to tie in to the website where it gives you a destination, accommodation, and a suggested activity.
