Jabal Sha’ib al Banat (Photography Set)

A set of photographs depicting the tallest mountain in mainland Egypt, from different distances and in a range of conditions. Luminance and colour data were separated, treated separately, and then recombined, just as happens in human visual perception. This high level of control allowed the images to more accurately represent how the subject was actually seen. The aim of this study was to capture how the character of the dominance of the mountain over the city of Hurghada and the Red Sea changed depending on distance, light and atmospheric conditions.
