Project: Pavilion for waiting to rain.
Area: 70 m²

Brief:
The objective of the project is to identify  emotional value the creation of nature, and to develop a method of actualization values through the architecture of the pavilion, utilizing environmental materials.

Concept:
When the rain comes in the yard, a man is secluded and trying to get around the bad weather when a person is walking in the rain it looks for the most part under the feet, not paying attention to the environment.

Remember when you last watched on the rainy sky?

Pavilion gives an opportunity look at the elements in the eye, looking at the beauty the natural phenomenon through the rain observatory. For the most part people look at the rain through the window. At the heart of shaping is a invert window because more often we look at the rain from the window the room has lost the opportunity to look up.
At the very beginning, before I thought about the idea of the project it occurred to me that we all live the same way. Our life is a daily routine within the framework of standards and rules.
Throughout the human evolution, we have developed only 5 types of sensors that help us perceive the world. Probably not everyone will be able to look at his own back without a mirror. So I wondered - why people do not notice many things that surround them?
Usually, a person that walks  in the rain, is closed in his mind isolated from the outside world.
In this way, blind zones that limit our perception of the world are formed.
Things that we have not seen or heard, and will never feel, form an absolute emptiness in our heads, in exchange for everyday reality. These facts give us an idea that we need in freedom and choice to see what we want. The rain pavilion is not only about the rain, it is about all the things around us. Pavilion gives us the opportunity to look at something that we are not able to see. To look at the rain from different angle.
I collected photos of the rain sky from various places all around the world. And came to the conclusion that the sky varies depending on the geographic location, which means that people in different parts of the world perceive it differently.
Imagine that in different museums around the world a painting is hung on the ceiling and is displayed to visitors. Many people will say that it is rather inconvenient to look at the picture on the ceiling, but on the other hand, such a viewing angle often remains inaccessible for a person.
The project is located in Shevchenko Park. It is a favorite place for resting among citizens. Unfortunately, there are no places for people to wait out the rain, to take some rest or simply spend time there.
The Pavilion consists of four observatories, turned towards different sides of the world. The architecture of the pavilion allows you to look at the rain going in the opposite direction and to look at it from below.
A special glazing with UV protection, installed in an aluminum profile, became “the eyes” of the rain observatory.
Rainwater flows through the drain placed in the body of one of the false columns; the waterproofing of the roof is solved by fusing a water-repellent membrane.
Its strict façade plasticity is reached due to 12 columns installed around the perimeter and 4 observatories mounted to the joist ceiling.
