At the time of this writing, I have been working with Visual Aid Society for over a year on a variety of projects mostly focused on non-profits, and business striving for ethical practices. While completing this work we discussed cultivating a social media presence through Instagram. The aesthetic was inspired by the ad-hoc approach of grassroots activism and the vibrant chaos of artistry and bohemia. Our posts celebrate humanitarian heros, the natural world, and the power of art + design to activate change.

Audre Geraldine Lorde was born on February 18, 1934, in New York City, and went on to become a leading African-American poet and essayist who gave voice to issues of race, gender and sexuality. Lorde's love of poetry started at a young age, and she began writing as a teenager.
