Brief
Design a way to reduce the impact of loneliness on the following: physical health, mental health, and access to services.
Problem
Starting university is a vulnerable time for students as they transition from comfortable home life to independence in an unknown situation. This, combined with social pressures, forms a catalyst for negative emotions, leading to feelings of stress, anxiety, isolation and loneliness.
Uni Buddy

Uni buddy improves the experience of starting university by engaging new students before they start, by the university sending them the device with their acceptance letter, helping and guiding them through physical, emotional and social changes to make their experience as comfortable as possible. Uni buddy tailors this experience through machine learning, providing relevant information and better opportunities to make more meaningful connections.
The Device
Questions, thoughts and anxieties can occur at any time. The device can be used as a spontaneous outlet rather than having to go through the app or an internet browser to find information or hold onto thoughts and worries.
