Concept and design of the Croatian edition of the book trilogy "Winternight" by the author Katherine Arden.
Concept:
The story of the "Winternight" trilogy is placed in 14th century Russia, thus the inspiration for the design of the books is inspired by the Russian heritage, especially the motives of the traditional embroidery.
VISUALS
Stylized embroidery shows the motifs of the story, and the alternating religious symbols speak of the conflict between the Old Slavonic faith and Christianity, which is steadily spreading throughout Russia.

LETTERING
Lettering for the titles was modeled on Cyrillic letter forms and calligraphy.

MATERIALS
The books are made as hardcover books and have a protective slip case. Materials (bookbinding canvas and imitation wood) for the books were carefully selected to invoke an association to medieval books.
