15,000 sq ft Immersive Branding Pavilion:  Retail, Executive Briefing, and Center of Excellence
Fronting the Las Vegas Convention Center
Conceived and built in 2003, Nextel Central was a $100MM immersive branding and retail service center, in partnership with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.  Nextel desired to gain traction in the Las Vegas market, and this investment led to stronger sales and relations with major casinos.  Nextel Central served as the front door to millions of convention attendees for major shows at Comdex, CTIA, and the construction, fashion, automotive and small business sectors.

It featured Nextel's first retail and on-site service location, and as the Executive Briefing Room and as the Center of Excellence, showcasing future technologies, partnering with Motorola and the Department of Homeland Security.

This was a major team collaboration, and I was honored to lead it from concept, negotiation, CEO commitment, to opening day.  Amazing efforts from the Nextel staff, and specialists at Gensler Architects, Promethean Partners, Chiat Day Advertising, Marnell & Associates, and a pair of excellent full-time project managers kept everything on track.

Nextel Central was awarded 1st Place in Visual Merchandising & Store Design by the ISP in 2005, was featured in Interior Design Magazine, and received commendation as a premier Executive Briefing Center.

More significantly, Nextel exceeded all sales and revenue goals for the Las Vegas market, turning the area into a top performing market in 2005.
2003 saw Nextel  rebrand, invest in NASCAR and develop an immersive branding pavilion in Las Vegas.
Nextel selected the monorail platform station fronting the Las Vegas Convention Center on Paradise road.  The LVCC is the busiest in the nation, and host to many large events attended by Nextel customers and prospects.

The station also faced the new Wynn Resort golf course, and was adjacent to the new Renaissance Hotel.
August 6 Team Dinner at Versailles in LA, with Nextel, Gensler and special project consultants. Great Cuban food, phenomenal team!
It was my pleasure to work with Gensler Associates of Los Angeles, collaborating with tech and special design firm REZN8, and Nextel ad agency Chiat Day, to develop the exterior branding and interior layout for the 15,000 square foot pavilion.

Stainless steel panels and black-out windows outline the beautiful design against the Vegas sunset.  Signage and an HD digital screen capitalized on the heavy commuter traffic at Desert Inn Rd and Paradise.
We also branded one of the monorail trains.  The Yellow and Black cut a highly visible path.  "Nextel - City of I Do" -- the ultimate expression of Nextel's key "Done" branding promise.
The transit station was the busiest on the monorail route, carrying millions of convention attendees through the station and into the LVCC.  The pavilion was accessible via two massive escalator banks and a landing patio bridged Desert Inn Rd.
November 18, 2003 - Nextel Central is announced and launched.  And it wouldn't be Vegas if there weren't showgirls.
