My collegue was preparing for his annual bonding fishing trip with his twin brother. He asked me if I could do a T-shirt design for the occasion. I was honored to take the challange and under the heavy infulance of the Saul Bass book I'm reading I came up with the following design.
To make the silk-print T-shirt less costly I ended up with a monochrome design.
Visualizing the final design.
The fishing trip's focus is catching Grass Carps a fish famous for looking like submarines. First I wanted to mix the two forms. These are my studies.
After the studies I started to ellaborate on my initial design idea. After a few reducing steps I ended up with only the head with the two hooks symoblizing the brothership.
One of the first variants of the design. The fish and the hooks were painted on my iPad with Pogo Connect and Sketch Book Pro the rest was done in Photoshop. The background is hand painted with acryl and shot with my Nikon, but I let the texture go to reduce the printing costs.
The whole process took three hours as I only had one night to finish it.
