Archie Rose - Summer Gin Project: Bush & Coast
Summer Gin Project is a two-part gin series showcasing the character of Australia’s most iconic season and distinctive natural environments: Bush and Coast. Each gin features distillates made from sustainably sourced plants, fruits and herbs, that have been wild foraged in Sydney by renown local forager, Diego Bonetto.
Our brief was to create packaging that captures the natural richness and essence of these two distinctive Australian environments. Archie Rose have skilfully bottled the flavours of the land, yet it was our mission to enhance the flavour experience through the use of colour and texture. We believe design can have a powerful effect over people’s perception of flavour so we embraced watercolour illustration as a means of capturing not only the visual features of these environments but also the distinctive flavour profiles of the liquid. For example the herbal and eucalypt notes really sing out though the dry green tones of the Bush label and the notes of fresh peach and briny sea lettuce (seaweed) are captured through the soft pinks and white-washed blues visible in abstract wind swept coastline.
