'Capricorn Lagoon'
I decided to start with Capricorn because I put her in my line for Mermay this year!
I put Capricorn in a lagoon because the sign is both goat and fish, so I thought a setting between the two would work well.
I was trying the go for more of a Mother nature vibe with this character, as even though Capricorn is an earth sign, it appears to have a lot of characteristics more commonly found in water signs, as they’re known for being quite gentle and sensitive.
Her tattoos are the signs for earth (the signs ruling element), Saturn (the signs ruling planet) and the symbol for Capricorn.
The Capricorn constellation can also be seen in the background.
'Pisces Cave'
Pisces are the last of the water signs, and the most sensitive. Their sensitivity makes this sign famously intuitive, and very in touch with their psychic abilities. Which is why when I painted their cave I went with a crystal amethyst look, as they’re often associated with mythicism and the psychic world.
I tried to fill the cave with sea-life to show the sign’s nurturing and sensitive nature. The mermaid’s tattoos include symbols for Pisces, Neptune (the signs ruling planet) and water (the signs ruling element).
