The Man Box
Background

Around the world, men are likely to committed suicide 3.5 times more than women. One of the main factor is the pressure of fitting the gender expectations called 'The Man Box’ - Men don’t show weakness, act tough, always be in control of themselves and more. These pillars make them feel the need to suppress their feelings and expressions. Soon isolated themselves from their emotions and were pushed toward loneliness and emptiness.
Target

The campaign aims to raise awareness among young adults who still have narrow perception of men.
Idea

Open the box. Since men are afraid they won’t be qualify man enough if they acts outside 'The Man Box' and break the stereotype. What society needs to do is to help them come out of the box by becoming more open-minded because men can't do it on their own. Instead of demanding them to ‘be a man’ now we are simultaneously responsible to ‘free a man’ from the toxic box.
Process

In order to acquire the insights I’ve read articles and researches, watching documentaries and talks about the topic. Furthermore, I’ve done my own research through online surveys with 60 Thai young men, with the sample questions from ‘The Man Box’, research by Promundo & Axe among young men in Mexico, USA and UK.
