Cofilter is an initiative aimed at recycling the waste produced from drinking a cup of coffee to make paper. Each sheet of paper thus produced would be unique, owing to the texture and the arrangement of grains on the paper.
Since print and paper go hand in hand, the project also explores the possibility of using coffee as ink to screenprint on different substrates, including the coffee paper.
A manual that talks about the role of coffee in our everyday lives and highlights the amount of waste generated from brewing a cup of coffee. It specifies the steps to be taken to recycle the coffee grounds to make paper and describes the technique to screenprint using coffee.
This paper can also be used to create packaging for coffee products- a sustainable intervention aiming at zero waste that can be undertaken by cafes in the future.
