Redesign Pink Floyd The Wall (Electronic/Dance Remix)

THE WALL
(Electronic/ Dance remix)
PINK FLOYD
The design of The Wall (electronic/dance remix version) is dedicated to visualizing the album ideal through playing around with typefaces as well as layout. My initial thought was to keep, what I think is, the core heart of The Wall – isolation and mix it with electronic genre whilst having the ability to connect with a younger demographic without alienating the existing audience. The visual identity of the original cover design is based on the Metaphorical wall and it should be the key visual element that what I will still use throughout the design. However, to make it fit with the electronic/dance genre, the metaphorical wall should be visually designed in an abstract way. In addition to that, I was hoping to explore the material, shape, and textures since electronic album always comes with a fancy futuristic cover with obvious materials applied on the objects.
I came up with a visual identification using ‘The’ as a 3D object and make it repeat as much as they can to express the ideal from original music video-repetitive. As the background, repeat pattern can make a profound impact and meanwhile to suit with the concept of electronic genre in an experimental and unexpected contemporary format. The feeling of isolation is communicated through the use of the ‘wall’ breaking through the repeated 3D pattern. Iron material is working pretty well with shade of cool environment background especially when they are minoring each other and reflecting fluorescent color. It gives the 3D object THE more depth and make it visually looks like the prison that Pink Floyd built around himself. The use of clean typography, minimal lines, and 3D texture stylist the album and fit the electronic genre as well. The inside page was kept abstract, impactful, and strong by simply follow the grid system which can see as formal in contrast with the song name ( informal ). When it comes to the color combination, cyan and blue are used to fit in the electronic scenario.
