After taking these detailed shots of a Forest cockchafer (“Salagubang” in Philippine Tagalog, “Abal-abal” in Ilocano), I'll never see them in the same just-another-beetle way again.

Found this beetle clinging to the window screen for several days and I ignored it all the time until I decided to finally take the shots. Had to put it in a controlled environment in my makeshift studio and brought it back to where I got it after the photoshoot.

Shot with a Sony a6000 + Sony FE 90mm Macro G OSS (with 26mm extension tubes) @ 1/125 sec., f/8.0, and ISO-160.
