Form and Meaning.

Using circles, squares, and triangles as the dominant forms, I was tasked with creating a series of symbols that had meaning when combined.

This project began with creating abstract or illustrative symbols from circles, squares, and triangles. The second step was to add color to some of the forms to start to give them meaning. I then gave the forms some attributes and started thinking of symbols and ways to make a symbol set with them. The meaning had to come from visual elements, as not all design can have a description attached.

I turned the form of the ice cream cone and the orange slice into more creative and fun illustrations by adding dimension and drips to them. I then developed those forms to a symbol set by thinking of foods that drip which led me to summer foods and foods that are refreshing. I developed quite a few sets of logos, but the set that works the best is the one entitled "Refreshing."
