My knowledge and skills have grown throughout the semester in DVB302, especially ways to manipulate raw dataset into infographics using different chart type. Kosara’s theories helps to ensure I’m on the right track of creating an infographic rather than just a quantitative dataset. I utilise the theory more and more as we begin a group assessment, where the raw dataset become overwhelmingly large and has to produce consistent story telling. A really useful tool that I will certainly be using in my future designs.
I also get to know functions of diverse chart types much more, and can comfortably utilise them to enhance the final group assessment. Moreover, I learnt and manipulate visual theories much more sophisticated. I took into account of smallest effective difference and data-ink to enhance the important message in the infographics. I also considered colour consistency and LATCH arrangement to produce a harmonised design. These knowledges I’ve learnt have effectively assist me to produce design that are both appealing and functional.
Overall, I have become more familiar with the intricate design process of infographics and has new perspective on viewing all the raw dataset. Able to view the numbers and see a story behind it.

Decision on types of chart and data are made as a team, after that the team looked into different raw dataset individually, and had group meetings every week to discuss about the project. Throughout the project our team worked cohesively together and have all heavily contributed to work out infographics, and ultimately a physical representation of infographic. While we basically work everything as a team, I mainly contribute to the design of physical representation. I started out with many ways we can represent the story correctly with different dataset as rough drawings, and create a quick bubble chart infographic to see if we can use this idea as our final design.
