BOARDROOM

The Problem
There is currently no way to track the location and condition of skateboard collections around the world.

Research Question
In what ways does brand loyalty within skateboarding affect how private collections are curated, and how can private collectors come together to help preserve the history for the community.

Success Statement
By creating a way for skateboard collectors to come together and share their collections in an organized way, a community can grow and flourish.

Target Audience
Both active and passive skateboard collectors, and anyone interested in the history of skateboard graphic art and design.

Research
Two surveys were sent out to 52 select collectors, and data and information on their collecting habits were analyzed. Research on how art galleries display work digitally was also conducted.

Design Process
Mind maps narrowed ideas down to a small group. After a small group was focused on, multiple iterations of each were refined until a final product was fleshed out. After deciding on a digital application, color, type, page layout and photo treatments were considered. Final interactions between pages were chosen to best suit the information presented.

User testing was conducted first using wireframes and eventually using fully rendered page layouts. Initial testing was done with paper wireframes, and final testing was done using application mockups in Adobe XD.

Design Solution
BOARDROOM is a working archive, dedicated to the art and design behind skateboard graphics.
