I SCRUB U, U SCRUB ME

Everyday, we use many commercial objects to assist and fulfil our daily tasks/needs.
But what if an object’s functionality is further questioned?

Exploring the theme of absurdity, the objective is to transform an everyday object into one that amuses with a new functionality, becoming an “absurd” object. A self-illustrated packaging accompanies the object in promoting its new functionality.

TOILET BRUSH

While exploring various sketches on absurd shapes and functions of the toilet brush, a related brand story was created where three sisters had to take turns cleaning the toilet every week. As their mother noticed their unhappiness over the task, she created this toilet brush to encourage bonding time while enjoying the process together. Over the course of a few days, the final product was hand-crafted in the workshop.
ILLUSTRATIONS

The toilet brush was named “I Scrub U, U Scrub Me” for comedic effect, based on the scenario of sisters scrubbing each other’s backs. While for the product name, it was reimagined in various absurd toilet brush alphabets. The product image shows the sisters being hard at work, cleaning the toilet as the toilet bowl continues to foam and overspilling bubbles. This is to present the functionality becoming absurd with use, yet in a comical way.
PACKAGING

A simple colour scheme was chosen for the illustrations and to match the toilet brushes’ colours, with different tones of aqua-green used in the background. To suit the main illustrations, the description and info were handwritten, while adding bubbles around the borders of the packaging. At the end, the physical toilet brush mock-up was attached onto the final A2 size printed packaging.
