Creative Escapes
Creative Escapes Travel Guides are my University negotiated major project, a project where I got to write my own brief. I combined my love of editorial and my love of travel to create mini travel guides. I created three A6 guides showing the quirky and creative places within each city, appealing to creative people who need some extra inspiration. The guides show unique places in a fun way, making them different to the usual travel guides.
Travel Guides
The final outcome was three travel guides for Berlin, Edinburgh and Barcelona. The guides use all of my own photography and have an illustrated style. Each guide includes honest tips and recommendations, and come with collectable postcards, stickers and creative maps.
The Brand
The travel guides use a bright colour palette with each guide sticking to three main colours to match the city. The guides use a hand drawn illustration style which reflects the cities creativity and appeals to my target audience. The photography, typeface and illustrations all work together to create a visually exciting guide. As well as the guides I designed postcards, maps and illustrated patterns to create a recognisable brand.
Printed Guides
The final printed guides use a die cut front cover, and are perfect bound. They are A6 in size to easily place in a bag or pocket whilst exploring the city.
Creative Escapes App
Many people would prefer to look at a travel guide on their phone as it's more practical so I also made a digital app version which includes all the same assets as the physical guides with some extra features such as a language translator.
