Firefighters from the Generalitat de Catalunya have been extinguishing a forest fire in the Alt Empordà region that has burned an area of 13,088 hectares, according to the latest provisional estimate. The cuts in the cleaning works of forests has been noticed, and firefighters also have seen their endowments dwindle and decrease turnovers. Firefighters from France, Andorra, the UME (Military Emergency Unit) as well as volunteers, have been helping on the extinction.
