PERSONALITY PATTERN PROJECT
The idea for this project really spawned from a conversation I had with a fellow photographer of how uncomfortable being photographed is and how we put people in that position regularly, but we don’t really understand how truly vulnerable and open position unless you have been photographed by someone else. When shooting portraits what separates one stellar image from the others is the emotion evoked from capturing the authenticity of the person. Being able to capture who that person is beyond great lighting or posing because once you are in front of the camera all guards are completely down. For this project I wanted to highlight these authentic differences using a projector to project a pattern that i created based on the Myers Briggs personality type test, a short interview based on the test they took just to help them understand what it all means and also for me to truly get to know them myself in order to really capture the personality of my subjects in a portrait.
I do have my own personal convictions and values, and I live by those. But as an artist, as a portrait photographer, my job is to tell the truth and to capture someone's spirit on a certain day. And it's never the whole truth; it's the truth I experience in a very intense and intimate fashion.

Here are the patterns i created for the project.
In conclusion, this project was a one of a kind experience to get to know people and also to help them get to know themselves too. As famous photographer platon said "It's very intimidating to be photographer, but if I kneel down and chat with you, so you're looking down at me, it makes you feel less threatened." I was able to get to know my subjects on a deeper level to really understand what platon was talking about on really letting my subject drop down their walls and feel comfortable in order create a portrait that really communicates the soul.
