Demetres Summer Menu

Demetres is a popular deserts restaurant that asked Kiril Climson and Clemens Reischl to design their summer menu and desert illustrations! The two artists paired up across the world from Canada and Germany to tackle this project in a two-week timespan.
We used Houdini, Cinema4D, and Adobe Photoshop, Substance Painter, Adobe Indesign to bring our ideas to the Canadian restaurant chain for their branding updates for the 2020 year.
The two artists Kiril (left) and Clemens (right) were brought on to work on the project. While Demetres was based on Toronto nearby to Kiril, Clemens was located in Germany throughout the project. Working remotely was our advantage here.
Kiril bought an iPad so he could bring Clemens along to any client meetings and presentations where we got to see previews of our work printed on merchandise, menus, and posters! It was hilarious to watch the group dynamic of handing Clemens off to an iPad to chat with various projects and have the group dynamic's continue to work magic.

Each day started by sketching ideas with Adobe Photoshop so both artists could collaborate on sketches at the same time even though we were on other sides of the world. Finding potential ideas in our sketches was the most intensive part of the project.
Ideas sparked when sketching isometric views of deserts and characters that could interact with each other, and provide enough space around the composition to fill in with detail. These macro-shots were very valuable because they could be reused as separate menu arts and prints for the restaurant chain.

All of the rough art was made with Cinema4D's standard renderer and slowly rolled into Octane's render as the colour palette began to emerge from the characters we were designing. Characters like the jogging fireball led the way to define the project's mood board well before the artists themselves had a clear idea of what the final design would look like.
