An experimental urban design project focused on Moghra Oasis in the Western Desert of Egypt. The Alchemy Of Weaving is an attempt to create a concealed and non-distracting architectural presence that acknowledges the deserted context and only works to accentuate its already existing characteristics: light, materials and tectonics. Sand melting technologies are used to produce dynamic shapes that work as anti-desertification structures, while enclosing habitable spaces, acting as wind barriers, shading elements, green walls, and several other functions. The city conceived in this project follows green building concepts in every scale, phase and connection. The main focus points are providing sustainable residential and touristic clusters with solar heating systems, solar energy production, green walls, and natural cooling systems, as well as ensuring an efficient functional flow in all the different parts of the city.
