Kicktown Wieden+Kenndy x Travel Portland project

Portland has had a sustained history of not being able to attract minorities and other ethnic groups to the city. Travel Portland wanted us to provided various events and solutions as to what can bring a broader audience of people from different backgrounds to explore the Portland atmosphere. One of the ideas that was created on my behalf was Kicktown, a week long event where the two cultures of sneakers and Portland come together to bring   a mutual solution for both parties needs. Oregon is known for some of the top sneaker companies headquarters such as Nike as well as a secondary headquarter for Adidas both which are the two top competitive sneaker brands amongst each other. With those two titan sneaker brands in Portland’s backyard, they have not had much of a major convention that could celebrate sneaker history like no other. Kicktown would feature be throughout the Moda Center as well as the Oregon Convention Center that will feature sports competition activities, exclusive shoe releases, sneaker trades as well as panels featuring some of the most historical figures in the sneaker culture ranging from shoe designers, artist, DJ’s and influencers.
