카슈칠 VS 옻칠 : CASHEW VS LACQUER
한국 전통 방식의 옻칠 기법과 현재 인사동에 만연한 가짜 카슈칠의 본질적인 비교를 통해 전통과 현대 사이의 간극을 은유적으로 표출함과 동시에 전통/현대의 공예품에 과학적인 실험들을 진행함으로써 진실과 허상의 시대적 구분과 재료의 순수성에 대해 재고해 보게 한다. 두개의 물질이 대립하는 동시에 공존하는 형태를 통해, 소통의 가능성을 모색한다.
By metaphorically expressing the gap between tradition and modernity through the essential comparison between traditional Korean lacquer and the fake cashew paint that is prevalent in Insa-dong, scientific experiments are conducted on traditional/modern crafts at the same time. Through these, she makes us reconsider the distinction between the times of truth and fiction and the purity of materials. She explores the possibility of communication through the form in which two substances coexist while opposing each other.
