Apiece Lab aims to explore new structures to join fabrics with less stitching, zippers, and buttons to improve the garment recycling process and create new types of garments, ways of wearing clothes, and fashion styles.
The goal of the ready-to-wear collection is to put this concept into practice in everyday life, considering usage, comfort, and sustainability. By wearing the buckle jewelry, a piece of cloth can be transformed into a variety of shapes and styles.

What if there is a garment with cloth and joining structures that can be separated like meat and bones, so the fabrics can be easily recycled?

A Piece of Cloth + A Piece of Buckle Jewelry
Fabrics are joined firmly by overlaying and clipping them into the magnetic concavo‑convex buckle.
Pairing a piece of simple cut cloth with different pieces of buckle jewelry creates versatile silhouettes. I designed two patterns in this project.

Fabric Joining Structure Experiment
Different joining structures were tried via 3D printing and using materials such as TPU and leather. I decided to develop the approach based on squeezing fabrics, which proved to be the most stable.
