The Richest Poor Man

The Richest Poor Man
Concept of the Art Piece
The artist witnessed an Edhi ambulance team in action helping car accident victims on the road. The flashing ambulance lights, bloodied white blankets and the frenetic scene stayed with him. It gave him a glimpse to his mortality and at the same time, highlighted the importance of Edhi Foundation’s work. The experience led him to learn about Edhi Foundationand the man who led it, Abdul Sattar Edhi. He was a man who devoted his life in the service of others.
Story of the Object/Art
The artwork is a WPAP rendition of Abdul Sattar Edhi. WPAP are colourful pieces of art and may lend people to think that it is inappropriate for the subject. The artist, however, believes that Mr Edhi’s led a vibrant life where he lived his passion and beliefs. His life is rife with inspirational and heart-warming stories that can only bring color to one’s day.
Symbol or Objective that relates to the Concept
Triangle was chosen as this is the strongest shape and Abdul Sattar Edhi’s strong focus on his cause is the reason for the success of his foundation and its continued good works even after his death. He lived his life according to three tenets: love and compassion; humility; and dedication. While he lived a very simple and spartan life, the fruits of his labor gave people, whose lives he touched, hope and salvation, bringing color and light into their gloomy and problem-laden lives. His life serves as an inspiration to do better by your fellowmen through gestures, big or small.
Legacy Highlight Social Cultural, Intellectual, Political,
Economic and Religious aspect
From humble beginnings, Abdul Sattar Edhi began his foundation with the aim of providing healthcare to the needy, the frail and sick. He turned a rental office into a medical dispensary and drove by himself. It grew to become the world’s largest volunteer ambulance network and now provides other much-needed services such as orphanages, soup kitchens, shelters and refugees assistance regardless of creed or religion. He leaves a legacy of volunteerism, altruism, and selflessness that everyone who knows of him can only be in awe of and aspire to.
Conclusion
Being a man admired by many, he has been quoted many times. But the quote on the artwork has to be one of the most
important one. At the end of the day, it is our character, it is our actions that will define us, and not our possessions,
education nor careers.
