World Bank: GrowInclusive Sustainability Platform

Designing and developing a sustainability platform to help take big business beyond the bottom line.

The challenge
The World Bank Group and World Economic Forum wanted to encourage businesses to adopt sustainable development strategies. They asked us to help.

We designed and developed a platform that could empower business owners to share best practices and benchmark their sustainability performance across global supply chains.

In-depth discovery
We held key stakeholder interviews with WEF and the World Bank and conducted a survey among lead firms and public officials. This allowed us to determine exactly what the platform needed to do, and what its key audience groups would be.

Prototyping and workshopping
Our research helped us build a prototype for presentation during two days of workshopping in London. These workshops were attended by more than 30 key stakeholders including representatives from the UK government, the Commonwealth, Apple, Primark and Barclays.

Precise planning
We devised an end-to-end sprint plan for the entire delivery. We established relationships with product owners from each agency, managed conflict and created client consensus throughout the project.

UX expertise
The platform required a significant amount of user generated content, so a carefully thought-out user experience strategy was essential. We established optimised UX for key user workflows such as the sign-up process and profile setup.

Design details
We designed key templates and functions for the platform as part of an MVP delivery. Designed elements included typography, interaction states and a suite of bespoke icons, all of which helped communicate the platform’s complex content with clarity.

The launch
The MVP launched at the UN Global Summit and laid essential foundations for the final product.
